Leica Geosystems - The BLK Story Accelerates

Hexagon’s Leica Geosystems division is a market leader in information technologies, helping professionals across many industries to accurately understand their environment and better execute their work. Their reality-capture technologies create digital worlds from different views, whether a single dimension between two walls in a house, cadastral boundaries of properties or 3D shapes of cities, infrastructures, utilities, entire countries or even crime scenes. For the announcement of their new BLK2GO portable handheld 3D scanner at HxGN Live 2019, Leica teamed up with Mynd Workshop, who prepared a variety of assets based on point cloud data scanned from different locations of interest. Mynd and Leica then reached out for the creation of visual effects using the parsed point cloud data and other footage. With the help of Adam Rokhsar, a number of exciting VFX shots were generated, both as overlays to existing footage and as standalone cuts, all of which create the sense of real-world environments being captured digitally, on-the-fly, by the new BLK2GO.
